Norfolk County : Be On the Look-Out for Dead Ducks & Geese
Posted by Anonymous
Norfolk County

Here is something residents of Norfolk will want to pay attention to; More than one-thousand mallard ducks have died along a southeastern Idaho creek bed. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game are testing tissue samples, hoping to rule out an avian flu outbreak. Some migratory mallards from Canada were still perishing at the creek yesterday, staggering and struggling to breathe before collapsing. Norfolk residents are being asked to keep an eye out for dead birds as part of a national project to keep tabs on the avian flu.
If you notice dead birds - especially waterfowl like ducks or geese, or significant numbers of dead birds in one location - you are asked to call the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre at 1-866-673-4781.
