Oxford County : Man Hurt In Workplace Accident

The Ministry of Labour is investigating a workplace accident in Woodstock that has left a man in critical condition. Early Monday morning, a Power King Exhaust Cleaning employee was cleaning the outdoor vents at the Wendy's Restaurant on Norwich Avenue. The ladder he was climbing slid out from under him, and the 31 year-old Brampton man fell 20 feet to the pavement below, hit his head and lost consciousness. A co-worker who witnessed the accident called for help. He was taken to the Woodstock General Hospital then transferred to London Health Sciences Centre where he remains in critical condition.

Oxford County : Pedophile Sentenced to 8 Years

The sentence has been handed down to a pedophile from Ingersoll. 69-year-old Raymond Chase has been sentenced to eight years in jail for sexually assaulting 10 young girls. When you factor in two-for-one credit for time served, he'll only be behind bars for another four years and eight months. He was arrested in May 2008 and pled guilty to 15 counts, including sexual touching, making and distributing child porn. He was known as a dedicated community and school volunteer in Ingersoll. His name has been added to the province's Sexual Offender Registry and once he is released will be banned from working or volunteering with children.

Oxford County : Police Arrest Wanted Man

A man who was wanted on a warrant in Oxford County has been arrested. Leonard Greason was picked up by police this afternoon at the Argyle Mall in London. A warrant was issued 2 weeks ago by Oxford OPP. Greason was wanted on numerous charges including assault with a weapon, theft and uttering threats for events that OPP say happened over the weekend of January 9 in Tillsonburg.

Oxford County : One and Only Female Firefighter Files Lawsuit

The Township of South-West Oxford is facing two lawsuits worth $3.8 million dollars after claims of bullying and harassment within the Beachville Fire Department. Their first and only female firefighter - Kelly Farrell - says in a statement of claim that she endured years of harassment, intimidation, and assault from all ranks at the station. She says she was even dis-invited to a company Christmas party because it was deemed a 'stag'. Former captain Gord Cowell filed his own claim that when he stuck up for Farrell he was wrongfully disciplined, suspended and then ultimately fired. The Township's lawyers say they will be defending the statements.

Oxford County : $10K Coke Bust In Woodstock

A pair have been arrested and over $10,000 in cocaine has been taken off the street in Woodstock. The Woodstock Police Service say they brought a search warrant to a Nellis Street home where they found the cocaine, crack cocaine and four thousand dollars in cash. Zohaib Kahn and Kayla Posso are facing three charges each.

Oxford County : Woodstock Bank Robbed

For the second time in less then a year, police in Woodstock are investigating a robbery at Scotiabank. It happened yesterday afternoon at around 2:30 when a man went up to a teller and demanded cash. Police say there were no weapons involved, though after getting an undisclosed amount of cash the man took off on foot. He's described as a white male, short to medium length brown hair, about 5'3 -5'6 inches tall, wearing a green shirt, blue knit gloves, dark round sunglasses and also wearing a bandage on his face. Officers and K9 units searched the area could didn't turn-up a suspect.

Oxford County : Stafford to Ride Again

Rodney Stafford says plans are in the works for a second bike journey to raise money for Child Find Ontario. This time, Stafford says he plans to take his 11-year-old son Daryn on the journey that will begin in Edmonton on June 15th and end in Woodstock. Stafford set out last August on a ride from Woodstock to Edmonton. He says Child Find Ontario needs more recognition, and he hopes the provincial and federal governments will take notice and support the cause. Stafford's daughter Tori was abducted and murdered last April. Her body was found five months later. Two Woodstock residents have been charged in her death.

Oxford County : Vannatter Court Update

Another court appearance today for a Tillsonburg man who police say trapped a little girl in a washroom and assaulted. 34-year-old Craig Vannatter was arrested back in November after alledgedly coaxing a 5-year-old girl into the Tillsonburg Community Centre bathroom. Oxford OPP say he then locked the door and covered her month to keep her quiet, but took off when she wouldn't stop crying. Vannatter - up on charges of forcible confinement, sexual assault, breach of probation and abduction will appear via video link.

Oxford County : Linesman Recovering After Throat-Slash

After a horrific on-ice incident at a hockey game in Woodstock, a linesman is recovering after having his throat slashed by a skate. Kevin Brown is now out of the intensive care unit. The hockey community showed its support for Brown on Saturday night raising almost $6000 for a trust fund set up for him. In the wake of this event, the Ontario Hockey Association is making it mandatory for their officials to wear neck guards beginning February 1st.

Oxford County : Attempted Purse Snatching

The Woodstock Police Service is looking for a teen after an attempted robbery. Yesterday afternoon at about 4 o'clock a woman got out of her car right in front of the Royal Bank on Springbank Avenue. As she was heading into the building, she was stopped by a young man and the conversation quickly changed into him trying to get away with her purse. After he was hurt, the would-be robber - about 16 years old - took off empty handed. He's described as five-foot-eleven, thin, with shoulder length hair.
