I Check it Once Or Twice a Day
It has 60 million members, and myself, along with Alan Duthie, Blair Daggett, Jeff Greenwood, Julie Stackhouse and Christine Bethune are members. It is Facebook.  When I first joined, I didn’t realize it would be addictive as it is.  I check it once a day, sometimes twice.  I have been put in touch with friends from all over the world.ÂÂ
The Norfolk Hub’s Rachelle VanRyssen has started her own Facebook thread, that is all about Norfolk and events in the area.     The thing that I love about Facebook, is that you never know who you will be finding, or who will find you.
This week, I found a friend that I knew in elementary school.  Kelle and I became friends in kindergarten at Langton Public School. I remember being absolutely in love with her. When I say in love, of course I mean in a way that you are with a friend that just means the world to you. A friend that you love like a sister.  I even had an imaginary friend named after her when i was 5 or 6 years old.  Unfortunately she moved away in Grade 6 to Port Dover. At first we tried to keep in touch, but as we grew up, it became harder and harder.  It was long distance from my house. Then, she moved away, I believe out west. Then I completely lost track.    Through the years, I thought about her often. Apparently when I was in college, she was at university, both of us in London, but unaware that we were in the same city.
It’s funny, because I actually thought about her on my wedding day. I wondered if we had kept in touch, would she have been a bridesmaid. This was all before I had access to the internet.
I found her while browsing through one of my friends, friend.  Now, she is a web designer, and lives in Toronto. Through the magic of Facebook I found her.  She has worked for several Fortune 500 companies. I am so happy she is successful in life.ÂÂ
Little Thoughts:
I am looking forward to tonights Grey’s Anatomy. The McDreamy wants more emotion from Meredith on “Grey’s Anatomy.'’  However, the preview was hysterical for this week.
Today is laundry day. I have been putting off doing the laundry until I can hang it out. However, I dont’ think that is going to work out this week. We are expecting sunshine on Saturday, but I’ll be running around doing stuff for the boat and getting ready for the Souther Sno Riders Snowmobile Dance

I personally hate it! The only reason I’m on it to to keep in contact with two or three good friends who use it as their only way of comminication. If you don’t adjust your privacy setting to really low everone has access to your personal life. I’m carefull with what I post, and what pictures are on it, and WHO I ADD! Time and time again, I’ve seen people posting stuff that’s unprofessional, personal e mails, gossip, and like you two mentioned, you NEVER know who is on facebook to read everything! Privacy can be thrown out the window, I had people walking up to me asking me why I wasn’t attending events, or how I was feeling becasue they read it on facebook. So I elimated those applications. Which brings me to my second point….just because I knew you…..whenever, doesn’t mean I have to feel obligated to add you…..and oh the offence caused if I don’t add someone! Sure you can set them to private….but way add them if they are set to private? I have no problem with people who love it, to each their own, but I find all those applications, requests to join this, that and everything is frankly annoying. For me….and again, no offense for people who love it….its nice to connect with old friends, but I still prefer a good old fashioned phone call or e mail.

But if you lost touch with that person or persons how do you phone them? I have found a lot of people I never thought I would hear from again. That is the coolest part. Kids I knew in Kindergarden that I lost touch with I have reconnected with 30+ years later.
